AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY
Research is devoted to accelerating agricultural mechanization. Various kinds of agricultural machinery have been developed, improved and transferred to industry for commercialization to meet local farming needs. The field operation machinery developed includes: track-type peanut and corn harvesters, mechanized peanut culture system, seating type upland cultivator, cabbage harvester, seating type rice seeder, ridge maker and plastic film mulching machine, multi-functional ridge maker and plastic film mulching machine, plastic mulch retriever, and old root remover, cultivator and fertilizer for asparagus, sesame cutting-and-bundling machine , mounted garlic transplanter, garlic harvester and soil-steam sterilizer.
The post-harvest machinery developed includes: muskmelon washer and sorter, ice-bank vegetable pre-cooling machine, root and leaf vegetable washers, peanut pod washer, seed garlic bulb splitter machine, garlic clove membrane remover, scraping and cutting machine for taro, and water caltrop washer and sorter, broccoli floretting, mango peeler and cutter, combined cucumber weighing-and-packaging machine and garlic root grinding machines.
The automatic production machinery developed includes: automatic sprout production system, nursery tray washer, automatic spray irrigation system for orchards, green culture management facility for bean sprouts, automation of seedling production for rice nursery centers, automatic water-saving field irrigation equipment, multi-usage operating machines for vegetable production, automation of vegetable production in trays, grafting system for vegetables and fruits, electric tracked aerial lift.
The waste recycling machinery developed includes: fast-recycling machine for kitchen wastes, speedy disposer for recycling agricultural wastes, and power disk harrows for tillage of green manure. An aquaponics production system has also been established to meet the need to develop urban farms and conserve water resources.
Ongoing research projects include: solar-utilize short term leafy vegetable production system, wireless automatic monitoring system for protected production, automatic production system for short-term leafy vegetables, production machinery for leafy vegetables, leafy vegetable transplanter and remote-controlled mowers, laser levelers, and other essential equipment. The station also helped import and test harvesting machineries for maize, sesame and sorghum to cope with the policy of “reactivation of fallow farmland”
